Building Self Esteem In Children
Welcome Parents,
We are often asked the question, “What is the main goal of Boost Kids?” Well, it teaches social skills. It also teaches character development. However, these areas are only the “means” to the desired “ends” of our main goal: building self esteem in children. This is not an easy task, as I am sure you know, but your role as a parent will be a big part in nurturing a healthy self esteem in your child.
Building self esteem in children from the parental role is about preparation or support. If a child is prepared and supported to independently handle a situation or overcome a challenge their self esteem will grow. This independent ability allows your child to feel good or confident in themselves because they are able to handle things on there own. Boost Kids was designed as a tool to help you give your child this preparation and support. The program covers social skills such as speaking clearly, body language, and listening as well as character builders like apologizing, handling teasing, being honest, and many more.
By helping your child develop the knowledge and strategies to cope in social and character testing situations such as these building a healthy self esteem will be much easier. An example might be apologizing. If your child made a mistake and needed to apologize to a friend or neighbor the likelihood they apologize on their own will be much higher if this was previously discussed, emphasized, practiced, and reinforced with them. Then the result of this independent apology would be a boost in their self esteem. They were able to resolve the situation on their own.
This pattern of preparation and support from you as a parent is critical for building self esteem in children and we want to help make this process simple, effective, and fun for you and your child. Our hope is for Boost Kids to allow you to support your child and help them learn these valuable social and character lessons in a non-threatening way. To give you a tool to discuss such important topics not only during corrective instances but also during times independent of correction as a way to simply learn important skills for life.

The key training tool of the BoostKids program is an interactive CD-ROM that shows kids the right-way and the wrong-way to handle social situations.
