Why is character education important for today’s youth?
Kids Exposed to Much More
Kids today are exposed to many more negative influences that work towards negating their character. Many video games, some of the over 100 cable stations, and negative music lyrics all work against the values that parents try to instill in their children and children are being exposed to these negative influences are earlier and earlier ages. Through strong character education, parents can help prevent what negative things children are seeing and hearing from affecting their character.

Children learn what they see and hear, that is a fact. Today’s culture negatively influences the character development of a child because children are constantly exposed to non-respectful behavior by adults. When adults are rude to a salesperson, have road rage, or display disrespectful behavior in any way whatsoever, children are learning to be disrespectful and the trend will continue and continue to worsen. Strong character education will teach children to be better than all of what they see and hear no matter what the circumstances.
