Social Skills for Children
Everyone
wants the best for their children; a good education, opportunities
for success, love and friendship. An important aspect, often
overlooked, to ensure these things is the development of
proper social skills. Social skills are not only important
in adult life, they are the building blocks for children
to develop good relationships with other children, authority
figures (such as teachers) and even for proper interaction
among family members. Taking the time to encourage social
skills for children is a great way to help them prepare for
the future.
There a lot of good reasons for using tools that are designed
to improve social skills for children. Many social skills
are learned through interaction with other children. While
this is an important tool in the development of these skills,
it is equally important that parents and teachers actively
teach and reinforce proper social skills for children such
as sharing, listening without interrupting, taking turns
and effectively handling anger and disappointment. It is
not enough to hope that children will recognize proper behavior
and imitate it; they could just as easily imitate behavior
that would be considered unacceptable.
Boost Kids is a company that is dedicated to helping parents
and teachers aid children in the development of their social
skills. Boost Kids offers a CD-ROM based program which will
help your child learn social skills. It is based on
encouragement and directed to reinforce social skills for
children. By providing our program to children, and helping
them with utilization of the methods and exercises contained
in the instructional CD-ROM, Boost Kids activity book and
Boost Kids flash cards, parents and teachers will be able
to help children increase self-confidence and learn proper
social skills for children.
When we think about the importance of developing social
skills for children it is easy to generalize that into simply
how they play with other children. Is the child outgoing
and friendly or is he/she shy and introverted? Does the child
share toys with other children or is he/she a bully? While
it is important for a child to interact with their peers
in an acceptable manner, it is equally important for that
child to know how to interact with children and adults of
all ages. That’s why it’s important to
provide every opportunity available for encouraging the development
of social skills for children.
We have all encountered examples “that” child
throwing a temper tantrum at the store because they were
told they couldn’t have a certain toy or candy. We
have all seen or met children that are either rude to adults
or so extremely shy that they will hide behind their parent’s
leg rather than say hello to someone. The instructional program
from BoostKids will show you how to instill self-confidence
in your child so that they are sure of themselves and their
decisions in any manner of situations. They will learn techniques
that will help them learn how to listen and how to express
themselves without throwing themselves to the floor, kicking
and screaming, because they can’t verbalize how they
are feeling.
As adults, we must learn how to quickly judge people and how to tailor our interactions
with them to best suit their personalities. We must learn that there are several
different ways to build friendships, partnerships and relationships and that
it takes varying strategies to successfully interact with various types of people.
Social skills for children are important to learn, and the earlier they learn
these skills, and start utilizing them, the more successful they will be as they
encounter new opportunities and challenges that life will present them with.
As parents and teachers, we are tasked with not only leading
by example but with actively instructing our children on
how to act. Too often children are scolded for inappropriate
behavior and expected to determine from such a reprimand,
the correct behavior. BoostKids is dedicated to showing
you children how to learn appropriate behavior. The skills
and techniques that BoostKids wants to share with you will
help you, as well. Your children will learn the proper ways
to communicate, leading to less frustration and avoidance
of an undesirable cycle of poor behavior.

As mentioned, we have all seen shy children, children who
are rude, children who throw tantrums when they don’t
get their way, bullies and brats. We have also seen children
who exude self-confidence, who are friendly and helpful,
who share and actively involve other children in their play.
These are the children that we compliment, children that
we see and think, “My, what a well behaved child.” BoostKids is dedicated to making sure that they are far more of
these children, and future adults, in our world than of those “other” kind
by helping make it easier to learn social skills for children.
That is why BoostKids is pleased to offer this CD-ROM to
help you learn the techniques proven to help produce self
confidence for kids.
