Teaching Manners To Children: Some
Helpful Tips!

teaching manners to childrenDue to the influence of television, friends, adults, and others, teaching manners to children has never been more important.  Children learn manners by what they see and hear and many times these outside influences are not teaching proper manners, rather what children are being taught is bad behavior.

Importance of Third-Party Materials for Teaching Manners to Children

For parents, teaching manners to their children can also be a very difficult task because many times children tend to “tune-out” their parents.  There is hardly a parent alive who has not received a “Yeah right, Mom” or “That’s dumb, Dad” response from their young teen or teenage children.  The key to teaching manners to children in this type of situation is to back up the teaching with a third-party resource that reflects the points that parents want to get across.

One of the most effective third-party resources can often be a person or image of a person that would be a peer of the child.  Often times when the same message that the parent is attempting to deliver is delivered by someone who is closer in age who is learning the information in similar circumstances, children respond better.  Boost Kids has recognized that many children respond to material in this manner and has developed a CD-ROM training program that is teaching children manners by real kids in real scenarios!
